Robert E. Johnson, III
Robert E. Johnson, III is the President/CEO and co-founder of Cimcor, Inc. Founded in 1997, Cimcor develops cutting-edge IT security software that takes real-time file change detection to the next level by offering instant remediation of changes. This unique software helps companies not only meet compliance and regulatory requirements but also continuously maintain compliance, stop zero-day attacks, protect valuable information, and help ensure 100% system uptime. For eight years prior to Cimcor Inc., Mr. Johnson was Manager of Business Systems for Davy McKee Corporation. In addition, he was also the founder of Velocityware, which focused on the development, marketing, and distribution of mobile software and technology.
Mr. Johnson has an Associate’s Degree in Computer Programming (1989), a Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Programming (1991), and a Master’s of Science Degree in Management (1996) all from Purdue University. He previously taught ‘Operating System Internals’ at Purdue University Northwest.
Mr. Johnson is an inventor and has led the development of several patented and patent-pending technologies. As a result of his passion for technology, he has written numerous articles, been a contributor to books about technology, and developed several commercial software packages. Mr. Johnson was the keynote speaker at the 2008 IEEE International Conference on Digital Information Management in London, England, and has presented at the CSI annual conference, EnergySec, and many other venues. He has appeared on World Business Review, Inside Indiana Business as well as Bloomberg Radio.
Mr. Johnson is actively involved in the community. He has served as a Board Member of the Purdue Technology Center of Northwest Indiana, a Board Member of Purdue Alumni Calumet, a board member of the Methodist Hospital Foundation, a Committee Co-Chair of the Northwest Indiana Good Government Initiative, and was appointed by the Governor of Indiana to the Board of Commissioners for the State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana (SSACI), and a board member of the biotech company, IVDiagnostics. Further, he is currently a member of the Board of Advisors for Purdue University Northwest’s Computer Information Technology department, the advisory board of the Department of Computer Information Systems for Indiana University Northwest, and a former member of the Board of Advisors for Westwood College. In addition, Mr. Johnson sits on Abu Dhabi University College of Business Administration’s Executive Advisory Board and Valparaiso University’s CyberSecurity/IT Advisory Council. Mr. Johnson also serves on the Chancellor's Council for Purdue University Northwest. Mr. Johnson is on the investment committee of the Legacy Foundation and was the past Chairman of the Board. In addition, Mr. Johnson also serves on the Board of Directors for The Methodist Hospitals and is currently serving as Chairman of the Board. In 2016, Mr. Johnson joined the board of the publicly traded Finward Bancorp/Peoples Bank and is currently chair of the strategic planning committee. In 2023, Mr. Johnson was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to the Indiana District Export Council.
Mr. Johnson was the 2005 recipient of the Purdue Alumni Association-Calumet’s Alumni Committed to Excellence Award for the Department of Computer Information Systems and Information Technology and was also selected in 2005 as one of the top ’20 under 40′ entrepreneurs by BusINess Magazine. In 2011, Mr. Johnson was inducted as a Fellow into the Society of Innovators. Mr. Johnson’s contributions to security and innovation have been commended and written into the Congressional Record of the 112th Congress. In 2015, Cimcor, Inc. was selected by the Indiana NW-ISBDC as Exporter of the Year in Technology. In that same year, Cimcor, Inc. was selected by CyberSecurity Ventures as #82 in the global compilation of the top 500 information security companies to watch. In 2017, Cimcor moved up to #75 in the global CyberSecurity Ventures Top 500 compilation. In 2017, Mr. Johnson was inducted into the NWI Times Business & Industry Hall of Fame, an accomplishment that has been documented in the Congressional Record of the 118th Congress. In 2020, Cimcor was named `Enterprise of the Year` by the NWI Times Business & Industry Hall of Fame. In 2021, Cybercrime Magazine identified Cimcor as one of the `Hot 150 Cybersecurity Companies to Watch in 2021`.
In 2023, Mr. Johnson was inducted into the Purdue Northwest Alumni Hall of Fame. In addition, in 2023, Mr. Johnson was selected as one of the `250 Most Influential People in Indiana” by the Indiana Business Journal.
